School Council Visit to the Mayor's Office

This week our energetic School Council went to the Timaru District Council chambers. Serena told us they were BIG, and council members only have a special key.
"I love being on the school council because we get to meet interesting people. We also get to do good things to change things at school," Serena said.

Week 8 Students of the Week.

Fabulous art work.

We have been learning painting skills. Then we practised the skills by painting pukekos for the calendars and also little blue penguins hiding in the rocks.

Dioramas of Our Little Blue Penguin Habitats

Room 2 started making fantastic dioramas this week. Little Blue penguins like to swim, hide in rocks and waddle around on the beach. The children in Room 2 are using the websites attached to this blog to find information for their inquiries.

I jumped like a jumping jack.
Serena slipped while she was sprinting.
Hamish jumped high on high jump.
Travis tripped over trying to do long jump.
Merci made marvellous jumps.
Athletics was amazing and awesome.

Term 4

Welcome back to school.

This term we are studying Coastal Birds. If you have books or DVDs at home about this topic we would be pleased if you could bring them to school.

During writing during Term 4 we will be learning to write reports and also to write poems. This will be fun. We may be able to publish them on the class blog.

Please remeber to bring a sunhat every day, even if it is cloudy or wet. We also thank all those who pack litterless lunches - this makes a huge difference to reducing the landfill needed to be disposed of at school and also to the litter that accumulates around the school environment.

Descriptive writing.

Room 2 have been writing about characters using adjectives and adverbs to help describe them.

As part of this writing we have been brainstorming interesting words to use. Our last post shows words we can use instead of horrible. This post shows words we can use instead of walk.

PrEP - Snazzy Stationery Group

This term, we are becoming business whizzes, with our Primary Enterprise ventures. Room 2 are making noticeboards, pen pots and stationery. Come and see our products on Market Day...you will need to bring your wallets full of taitai. We are enjoying groups coming and marketing their products.

We had an Old Toy Fair to help understand the concept of exchange/barter. Some people made exchanges more than once. Others took their original toy home. We understand to make the exchange worthwhile, we have to be better off.

Tekapo Trip

On August 17, we went to Tekapo for a FANTASTIC day of laughs and adventures. Our Learning Team skated, and soaked in the hot pools, and roared down the slope on our snow tubes.
